This morning we again confronted the question that rolls around every Sunday: where to go to church this week?
I told my wife that I wanted something German this week, and she managed to find a livestream from the abbey in Neuzelle, east of Berlin and very near the border to Poland. It was a good find, and we enjoyed the mass there.
The abbey is a Cistercian monastery, founded in the 13th century and rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 16th. In the early 19th century it was dissolved and taken over by the state, but recently a group of six monks again took up residence there and has restarted the abbey. I was supposed to go to a conference in Poland this June, not so far from Neuzelle. The conference is canceled, of course, but perhaps if it gets rescheduled I will have to modify my itinerary and take in Neuzelle as well!
