Today we were looking for a way to attend church for Holy Thursday, and we found a livestream from the Benedictine abbey at Einsiedeln, in Switzerland. They have a YouTube channel here.
I have never been to Einsiedeln, though perhaps I ought to get there! I know of it only from Swiss history. The abbey goes back to the 10th century. The Swiss attacked it in 1314 as part of a dispute with its protectors, the Habsburgs, who at that time ruled parts of eastern Switzerland. The Habsburgs invaded in retaliation, but in 1315 the Swiss routed them at the Battle of Morgarten, a great victory that helped establish the original Swiss confederation.
